inflation, why bother listing prices on bikes from yamaha/kawasaki/suzuki, they are unchanged, just buy a old or used one

gasgas got my money this year, just bought a 2011 250 six days

When i was a kid my dad thought it was the end of the world when gas went over a dollar..... inflation, period. When i was in in HS and still racing 125's you could get a new one for 4k out the door. But then again you could also get gas for 1.09. Just be happy they have not inflated as much as other things.

Exactly. I told my buddy this while he was looking to pick up a 125. He wasn't finding any decent deal on craigslist so he went to the Yami dealer with the intention of trading in his R6. He called me later on and I asked him if he picked one up and his response was, "Dude, they want $7000 for a bike that looks almost exactly the same as your 02." I replied, "that's why I told you to find a used one for $1200."

KTM will get my money when they make a 300 with injection. Otherwise I'll pick up a used KTM 300 or maybe even a Gas Gas.

I had a paper route in middle school (18 now) I was only able to buy a bmx bike with that after 2 years. When you look at things like house prices in the 70's they were 1/10th as much as they are now, but people only make about 5x what they did in the 70's. No wonder everyone's broke.

i dont know about 2500....maby 3500 or 3750...2500 is a little cheap.:smashpc:

Have you ever owned a 100? I owned the KX100s' dad - the KE100, as fun as it was, it was priced a little high. But we're talking the same exact price of a BRAND NEW Ninja 250, why Kawasaki? Why!

Can we really blame it on inflation? Or is it just the companies getting greedy? I mean the CBR600 has gone up roughly $1000 every year, ABS was a big deal yes. But some years they simply had a tiny little motor change and a new color scheme, why would they dare charge an extra $1000 for THAT? :busted:

They say sales of motorcycles are falling, and no body is buying anymore. That's dumb, wanna know why? Because they can't study how many PRIVATE sales go on. So it's actually the sales of NEW bikes are dramatically falling. Lower your prices guys!!!!!!!!! DUH!

Sorry I'm off again... 👍

You know what I wanna see? Is a 2013 Honda CR700CF-OI-EFI (Carbon Frame, Oil Injected, Electronic Fuel Injected).

Now THAT I would literally lick my dealerships' doorsteps for.

New bikes are just overpriced. Instead of buying a new stock 450 for $9k OTD, you could buy a lightly used one and spend all those thousands saved on motor work, new suspension, and trick parts for the bike. Heck you could even put in a new top end as well as doing all that other work too and still come out under what you would have paid new.

To be honest I dont see how the Companies in Japan make any money of off road bikes. Think about it. They are doing all that development, buying machines to make the actual parts, buying the raw materials paying somebody to make those raw materials into the parts, then paying someone to put it all together, then pay to ship them over to America and to the dealers. And only selling the bike for 7k? Shit. And they really dont sell THAT many.

KTM is the number one off road bike seller in the world today.

I guess the answer to your question is, the japanese don't make that much money on off road.
