I've done it this time! need help!!

I took apart my oil screen for cleaning on my 07 kx 450 and was putting it all back together and one of the alignment pins fell into the big oil passage under the flywheel.? Am i screwed or is there a way to get this out? thanks in advance!

Wont the magnet get stuck to everything else? and how deep is the crank sump?

well i tried to get it out with a magnet and it must be in there good because i cant get it, so it looks like Im splitting the cases, or running it and hoping it doesn't lock up. thanks for the ideas guys.

you could fill it up with diesel and try draining it out, the diesel could cause it to float and when you drain it out. the pin comes with it.

then can i just fill it up with oil and ride?

as long as the pin comes out, and of course you drain all the diesel out, yeah. just put it all back together like normal and it will work fine.

Dont split the cases. Just pull the cylinder off and stick a magnet down that way. Like the magnets on a retractable stick. Ive done that before, a bolt backed out of the screen and went thru my motor.

Will i need to get new head gaskets?

i flushed it with diesel 3 times but nothing. I think it got washed further into the motor so i dont know what to do?

if you did wash it further into the motor, its probably somewhere around the the oil pump feed or something. maybe around the tranny, theres soo many places that it could be.

if you try the magnet thing though, you may have to get new gaskets. 1 of the gaskets is a metal one, so you might get lucky and be able to re-use that one. and i can't remember if the other is paper or not.

i wouldn't run it until you find out where that pin is and get it out.

if you run it and it comes loose, could cause way more damage to the motor..

Why not just take the fly wheel off and look? It takes like 15 min
