Oil in airbox

Recommended Posts

First post here, and of course I have a question.

I am trying to bring my 2003 DR200SE back to life after it has sat for a while.

One of my major concerns while looking over the bike is that below the air filter I found a rather decent amount of oil, inside of the airbox.

I THINK it might be from a time long ago when I tipped the bike over on a hill and fell off, it took a moment to get back to shut it off, and before I could kill the motor it was blowing white smoke.

It ran fine after getting the oil out of its system, and I think I rode it happily for a year after that, but admittedly, I did NOT inspect the air filter until now as I always rode 95% on road.

Meat and potatoes: Is this oil likely from that tip-over or do I have a bigger problem?

Im sure I'll be having more questions, too :smashpc:

The air filter works with oil. The person who washed the filter might have dipped the filter in oil or something. Just check the oil level regularly.

The 200 is pretty much idiot proof, mine still runs..:smashpc:
