yz250f Problems

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 2002 yz250f that was not running it has a brand new top end incuding cylinder. I checked the spark and it was fine and I also cleaned the carb and made sure that fuel is getting to the engine. the bike has great compression maybe even a little to much cause when it's rolled off the back tire will lock up a little more than usual when it's put in gear we pulled it off with the truck and it fired and ran for a second but we just could'nt keep it running. so now I'm trying to figure out whats next. could the valves be to tight? is the timing chain off? what should be my next move.. thanks for any info!

Check cam timing and valves. If those are correct then start looking at your carb again. The pilot jet is known to get badly clogged easily after sitting with gas in the carb. Sometimes it is easier to replace the pilot than it is to clean it. Make sure the gas is fresh too
