stroker questions

Hey just a few questions about this 470 stroker reuild that i need a little help planning. The bike in question is a 2000 drz400 with 20,000 (12500 mile) hard kilometers on it. The previous owner has put a full Ti yoshi system on it and i asume has adjusted the carb or possibly even changed it for a different one (its still an fcr39).

So while im in there replaceing main bearings and water pump, timing chain and a manual tensioner. Is there any other specific problem things i should be checking out and/or replaceing?

Also are upgraded cams prefered to go with the stroker?

Likely carb jetting?

Id like to tear this thing apart just the once. Any help or knowledge will be appreciated and taken on board. thank you

you need the 41 mm FCR CARB

What cams are installed?...RHC are more suitable than Hotcams...and 41Fcr ...

use copper coat on the head gasket , torque the head to 43 ft/lbs

More likely it will be,a 4mm stroker kit to give 462cc with a 4mm overbore,than the 5mm stroker that needs a spacer plate to work and with the 4mm overbore gives a displacement of 470cc

Hotcams won't work on a stroked motor,RHC 187 and the like are needed to prevent head sealing issues,its often said but ask Eddie for what's needed.

Yes.. Ron Hemp Cams ...rhc 187 cams..Eddie can supply them..?

this is probably a silly question but what is "3x3" in reference too?

Air box opening area under the seat,3x3 inch area seems to be the ideal opening size reccomended,enlarge the current hole to those dimensions.
