Home made pipe protection?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone made thier own pipe guard? I'm especially interested in 2 stroke guards for the expansion chamber.. It's easy to ding up those dang things 👍

Anyways, Would it be beneficial to "wrap" the expansion chamber with maybe a piece of inner tube? Fiberglass? A layer or "great stuff" and duct tape!?

I'm open to ideas here! Ones that won't break the bank are best.:smashpc:

I don't think inner tube or anything flexible is going to help much, you need something rigid such as aluminum or carbon fiber to keep from denting the pipe. and that only helps if it hits where the guard is.

You can find good quality pipe armor for around $40 or less. It's actually designed for its intended purpose and does a nice job. An inner tube is too flexible and great stuff and/or duct tape will wear off and leave you with a nasty looking pipe with no protection. I have some Moose armor and it only cost $42.

I use to use an old pipe that was too dinged up to run. Cut it up and use long hose clamps. It got me by, but was a lot of work to cut up and make fit.
