00 300EXC need to reset the float height

Recommended Posts

I need to adjust my float height. When on the side stand, fuel is pouring out the carb. I've hated to touch it, as the bike really runs well, but I can't stand it some thing is not "right". Of course while I have the carb off, it will also get a proper cleaning.

I know I just need to bend the tang, but is there a written procedure that shows the proper way to set the float height.

thanks

From the manual:

Checking the float level (float height)

For this purpose, dismount the carburetor and remove the float chamber.

Hold the carburetor in a slanted position such that the float will abut the

float needle valve but not compress it.

In this position, the edge of the float should be parallel with the float

chamber sealing surface.

If the float height does not correspond to the desired value, check the

float needle valve and, if necessary, replace it.

If the float needle valve is o.k., you can adjust the float height by bending

the float lever .

Mount the float chamber, install the carburetor, and adjust the idle speed.

Good Luck 👍

My teenage son demonstrated how to properly "plant" the sidestand, and snapped mine.

It corrected that behavior so it was worth every dollar of the replacement!
