Forks on cr 250 ?

My foRk seals have started leakin how do i replace the seals and how to i check how much oil is in the forks

Replacing the fork seals is a pretty easy job. First off, I recommend using Honda OEM fork seals and bushings (and yes get both the seals and the bushings). I like using the maxima racing fork oil. Honda HP5 is good stuff as well.

I also suggest referring to your service manual for your bike.

In regards to checking how much oil is in your forks, you will pretty much have to dump the oil into a ratio rite or some sort of measuring cup. However, it will not be entirely accurate since there will still be traces of oil in your valves, springs, etc.

this is really good stuff. only the SKF fork seals have a better reputation than stock ones

Also, you have to consider what the main motive of the aftermarket companies are...to make money! They will say this and that about their product to get you to buy it. So I always take everything I hear with a grain of salt.

For the price, OEM is the best in terms of reliability AND stiction.

SKF offers reduced stiction and increased reliability, however, they are more expensive at $34 dollars per fork leg.

yeah, just saying. cos i know alot of oem stuff aint that good these days.

especially in terms of old cr parts.

these seals claim well. but are not skf.

don't know their fork stuff, but once I was told to change the shock bearings of a used bike. the guy gave me a pivot works kit - they did have more play then the used stockers...

I just finished the disassembly of my forks and I must say it was way easier than expected. And as long as the assembly goes smooth when my parts come in, I'll be looking at $200-300 in savings instead of taking it to my Yamaha dealer. Rockymountainatvmc has amazing How To videos.
