KTM 250 SX Shift fork 2009

Recommended Posts

The shift forks in the 2009 KTM 250SX are listed in the parts manual as 3 different part numbers. each fork is marked with 1, 2 or 3 dots. My question is which one is which part number. I downloaded the engine manual and did not see a reference for identifying the correct dot to position or part number.

This is what I have found so far the dots on the shift fork are simple tooling marks and do not correlate with part numbers. the smaller of the three shift forks mates with the primary shaft. the two larger ones mate with the counter shaft. the larger shift fork with the most offset guide pin mates the counter shaft closest to the clutch side of the case. The larger shift fork with the more centered guide pin mates the counter shaft closer to the mag side of the case. hope this info helps those in the future when putting the transmission back together.
