Idle Air Screw help

Recommended Posts

Need some help with my son's KLX140L. IT was running fine with just the silencer removed exhaust, Snorkel removed and both jets up 1.

Yesterday it started stumbling off idle and misfiring but seemed to run OK at higher RPMs.

I never touched the air screw and I'm thinking that it might need to backed out a tad. It's not slotted from the factory (contrary to what I've read somewhere on this forum) and I don't know how to get at that little bugger?

Advice?

I think the screw has a protective cap over it that needs to be removed before you can adjust it. Typical procedure is to drill a small hole in it then use a sheet metal screw to grab it, then pull it out.

As far as I know, pretty much all carbs (on any bike) come with caps over the mixture screws that need to be removed.
