YZ134 Top end rebuild

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, going to do the top-end on my 134 here in the next couple of weeks, and need to know where i can get the gaskets to do it.

Do i need special gaskets, due to the different cylinder size? Or will i be able to use the stock gaskets..

I already have the piston, rings, wrist pin bearings, etc etc, just no gaskets.

i am almost certain you will need bigger gaskets. as far as where to get them id get them where you got them last time. if they dont carry them or you refuse to go back to them again call the company who builds the 134 kit and ask them where to get the gaskets.

Thanks guys, teardown and rebuild thread imminent.

Going to buy OEM gaskets thursday, and full set of plastics next thursday, with frame strip-down and re-paint

I didnt even know they used O-rings. Thats pretty neato.

Aaaaanyways... Heres some pics from today's teardown progress.

Mind you, i'm also sandblasting the frame and painting it

Started at noon, finished at 4.

Used some dollar-store simple green and a pressure washer and tried to clean all the crap off the frame.

56K, ye be warned.

Going to hopefully sandblast it within the next day or two. My buddy has a sandblaster, and i just need to get the bike down to just the frame.

dude dont sandblast the aluminum. use a soda blaster instead.

FYI if you sand blast the frame your are going to have to repaint or powdercoat it. Im sure you know that already tho

its not aluminum... its steel, hence the rust lol

And trust me, it's getting a fresh coat of paint. I'm thinking gloss white.

Couldnt get the swingarm off cuz all my BIG sockets were in the grab bag, and my dad had it in his truck :/

I have a 06 yz134 stock gaskets are fine, the head gaskets are o rings so boring doesnt effect them/ you can get away with just the base gasket, I never pull the head on mine when I put rings in it. Make sure to replace your rings pretty often as the exhaust bridge is pretty narrow and wears flat spots in the pretty quick. I replace rings once a month when im racing alot but I ride very hard.

Welp, i'm actually moving out of my dads house. Have the bike in storage at my moms house right now, but it's still in pieces. I dunno if i'm gonna go through with everything. I might just throw it back together and sell it come february. Probably won't have the cash to buy anything for t for a while.
