'08 250 XC - Power characteristics

So I just picked up this bike used and am trying to figure out the powerband and overall power characteristics. Currently, the power is very, very mellow with the powerband coming on later. It almost feels slow. It has the stock bare metal color powervalve spring (stock?), 162 main, 35 pilot, and a needle with no markings except for a red dot on the top and the clip is in the 4th from top position. I'm riding between 4000-8000 feet in elevation.

So, I rode another '08 250 XC yesterday just to get a feel for what another one felt like and I was blown away. It felt like my YZ250...huge hit and a ton of power...not docile at all like mine. Now, he had the engine sent to Slavens for a port job and other engine work so maybe that is what is going on?

My question to other '08 250 owners..what is your power like, more like how I describe mine or more like one I rode yesterday?

bet he had the red spring too

that slavens squish change may help yours, have you checked to see how far off it is? Someone could have done a top end and not checked the X dimension
