Speedo cable.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

Need your expert help again.

I have fitted an after-market speedo today, after taking the bike for test ride i discovered the speedo would not work.

After that i disconected the cable at the bottom end.

On closer inspection of the speedo drive (not sure if thats the right name) i noticed a hexaganal part inside the drive unit, is this supposed to be there or has the cable snapped and lodged in there.

The bike is a 2003 drz 400s model.

Thanks Dave.

Thanks for the reply.

The speedo i fitted is prety basic, i don,t think it has a brand name.

The cable fits at the speedo end perfectly.

Im not sure if its snapped of at the bottom end.

Does the bottom end of the cable have a female conection to fit a male hexaganal conection thats in the speedo drive unit.

Sounds like it's snapped... I had a bad experience with a cheapo DRZ speedo cable from ebay, lasted all of 400 miles before snapping. Mine snapped near the speedo unit input though. Best off getting a genuine Suzuki one from a dealership.
