Lifan 125cc Stator coil burned out?

I have a 74 Honda XL70 with a Lifan 125cc I put in 3 years ago and just recently my stator coil is only putting out 0.08 of a volt. I had just finished tuning a used XL100 carb, That made it extremely powerful. And the time it ran it kept trying to die when I would down shift. then it would fire back up when rolling. What I wanna know is can that coil burn out from too many rpms? I`m running it with out the battery on the basic 4 wire setup.

With the price of parts being so reasonable these days, you could pick up THIS and THIS for $60.00 from T-Bolt and be riding again in no time.

And, if there's any doubt about the rest of the electricals on the bike, you can do THIS KIT for $100.
