2004 kx250 dies after 20 minutes

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know why my 2004 KX250f dies after about 15 minutes of riding. After it dies I let it sit a couple minutes and it fires right up again. This happened on the weekend again while I was riding down the road and it was not hot out(65 degrees F). I'm thinking something electrical, maybe stator.

Sounds like its a little too lean. Come out on your pilot screw about a quarter of a turn

Sounds like a bad Stator ( Generator ). I have a 2010 kx250f, and have had this happen last fall. All it takes is for one of the copper winding's to have a crack. Once the motor gets hot, the wire expands thus pulling the winding's apart. If your carburetor was set to lean, those symptom's would be evident within 2 turns of riding. If the bike dies like you are holding kill switch on, then my guess its a bad stator. Just going by what have already happened to my 2010, stator fixed my problems.
