Got a Valve Question for you guys ;)

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys so i got a Valve question for you guys.

I Got my Seats Cut and Head milled and now i need to adjust my valves

So im just gonna Ask you guys some question to be Sure that im doing the Math right

Exhaust are supposed to be 0,17mm - 0,22 mm

Inlet are supposed to be 0,10mm-0,15mm

Exhaust 1 clearance is 0.25 - 0,30 mm And my current shim is 2,98 .

0,27-0,20 + 2,98 = 3,05 is my new Shim right?

Exhaust 2 clearance is 0,5-0,7mm And My current Shim is 2,90

0,6-0,20 + 2,90 = 2.760 so my new is 2,75 ?

Inlet 1 clearance is zero Current shim is 2,95

0-0,13 + 2,95 = 2.820 So new shim 2,80?

Inlet 2 Clearance is Zero aswell Current shim is 2,98

0-0,13 + 2,98 = 2.850 so New shim 2,85 ?

So am i doing it right?

Thanks

Yes.

No.

No.

No.

When the clearance is zero, it´s not really zero, but a negative clearance. You will need an even thinner shim than you think. Probably 0.1 mm thinner than theoretical.

And on the second exhaust clearance, is 0.5 to 0.7 a typo? If correct, you need a 3.30 - 3.40.

Yes Second exhaust is a typo it supposed to be 0,06 not 0,6 👍 so my shim on that is still 2,75 ?

So my new Inlet 1 shim is = 2,70 instead of 2,80?

And Inlet 2 shims is = 2,75 instead of 2,85?

Cheers .

Yes, that´s correct.

The inlets are of course guesses, since the actual measurement can´t be taken. But my experience tells me that you always need a little more than you think.
