2011 yz250f help!!!

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a cherry 2011 YZ250F. The guy I bought it from didn't know a whole lot about bikes (he had the dealership perform the first oil change/filter change/chain adjustment) but I see something very strange with the front end set up, and I NEED some insight.

The front forks appear to be sitting very high in the triple clamps. I am accustomed to having about 5mm of the fork sticking out of the clamp, but on this bike the forks are wayyyy high, in the neighborhood of an inch or more. Since the previous owner wasn't very mechanically inclined I was wondering if this was the stock setting on the bike. I read that MXA ran the forks on their test bike at 5mm between the cap and the clamp. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Was the previous owner short?

Vertically challenged.....

Remember to torque the triples....

He was probably 5'9" He doesn't know how to turn a wrench so I'm sure he didn't set it up this way.

I always torque the triples to the specs in the manual. I'm way anal about it.
