Husqvarna’s Graffunder Returns from Injury for Boise EnduroCross

Multi time EX podium finisher looking forward to being back in the fight

Irvine, CA (October 18, 2011) – Zip Ty Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder was title threat leading into the 2011 GEICO AMA EnduroCross series, presented by Lucas Oil. The 22 year old Canadian had proven to be a regular podium contender in 2010 and finished fourth in the championship. He is an “Extreme” race specialist that won the 2010 Xtinction Enduro in Canada and has had top finishes in several international events including Erzberg. EnduroCross is his primary focus and he was fired up to contest for the championship when he broke his wrist while training just days before the X Games opener. So he has sat helplessly on the sidelines and missed the first five rounds of the 2011 series but is looking forward to finally racing at the Boise, Idaho event this coming weekend.

“I will get a solid three days of EX riding in before the Zip Ty Husqvarna truck leaves for Boise so my expectations can’t be too high, especially with the level of riding I have seen this year in the EnduroCross series” Graffunder stated. “My goal will be to ride safe and not re-injure my wrist and of course make the main event. If I can make the main, it will be a good test of how much ground I have lost in the last couple of months off the bike. I have been training a lot but riding is much different and EnduroCross is tough even when you are prepared”. So look for the number 4 Husqvarna in Boise and especially in Las Vegas, when he will have a lot more seat time under his belt.

For all EnduroCross events, the pit area is open for free all day so it is great opportunity to meet the top riders up close to get autographs and check out their bikes. The arena is also open for free during the daytime qualifiers that get started at 10:00 am as well as for the Expert practice and qualifying laps that take place during the midafternoon. So it is certainly worth coming out early for a full day of action.

Tickets are available at Carl’s Cycle Sales, Grizzly Motorsports, Moto Tech, Birds of Prey, ICtickets and www.EnduroCross.com. The Arena opens at 6:30 PM and Boise resident and RacerX Publisher, Scott Wallenberg will be playing with his band Blues Addicts leading up to opening ceremonies.

EnduroCross tracks incorporate various elements of extreme off road racing into a Supercross-style setting, including rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, a water-hole…and even a few special obstacles like giant tires thrown in! Known as the “toughest racing on two wheels,” this indoor off road racing will certainly keep you on your feet. Don’t miss your chance to see GEICO AMA EnduroCross “Live”. ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC will combine to telecast 25 hours of live X Games 17 competition, which will include Enduro X. For the six remaining EnduroCross events, be sure to log-on to www.motorsportshour.com for local air dates/times for the Lucas Motorsports Hour on the Versus network.
