How do you know if you have damaged your larynx?

Recommended Posts

So I went over the handlebars a couple of days ago and smacked my helmet visor first into the ground. Other than the usual bangs and bruises I am fine, except my throat. When my head and helmet hit the ground my chin-strap sort of dug in and scraped down my throat over my adams apple. It felt like someone had jammed a plate or frisbee into my neck.

I now have a really sore throat, like the worst case of tonsilitis. It was at its worst the night after the wreck and has become slightly less swollen in the subsequent days. Is that enough to know that whatever was bruised is on the way to healing?

Pretty much if you didn't die from lack of oxygen at the time of impact, the injury will heal itself by this point.
