Kold kutter - which tires?

Recommended Posts

Get a Kenda ice tire....I spent 3 seasons trying to get regular knobbies to work. The screws will not stay in a regular tire I have not lost a screw in 2 seasons with the Kenda. If your using a 21" front tire get a Kenda Trackmaster. Both tires are very soft.

Okay. We don't have that mutch snow and ice here.

I don't want to buy special ice tires for these rare ocasions.

So - soft tires seem to be the way to go?

Go with a hard tire but get some old road bike tires, cut the side off and use them as inner liners. You can use 1" long screws on the back and 3/4" screws in the front. The screws will go thru the tire and into your inner liner.

IRC VE 33 rear will hold a 7/8" KKs and a 1" KKs if angled a bit. I've been building ice racing tires since the 70's and found IRC to have great rubber.
