crf230 burning oil

I recently purchased a 05 crf230f and I found it started burning oil, shortly after a oil change (used correct honda oil). So i have the motor apart now and I am changing the rings and piston in it along with valve seals and other gaskets. Before i put the whole thing back together is there anything anyone can think of that could cause it to burn oil?

Did you hone the cylinder before you put the new rings in? If not, they will not break in and seal properly.
