exhaust valve shims being pounded out in the center

Recommended Posts

my valves/top end was ticking so I opened it up.

intake valves are fine but the exhausts clearances were very big.

turns out its because the valve stem had pounded the center of the shim down, creating about .2mm of slack. the clearances should be .30mm... they were .52mm.

does anyone know what would be the cause of this?

so I guess you cant re-use shims eh?

thanks.
