Leaking front bleeder screw, caliper

Recommended Posts

Apply a bit of pressure to the brake lever, loosen the screw a skosh, tighten it back down if there may be debris where it seals.

Or just tighten it a bit more. I have never seen a bleeder leak that wasn't just plain loose.

There is no seal or o-ring, it's just metal-on-metal.

Get a new bleeder screw, it has been deformed, most likely crushed a little on the side with the cross hole right above the seat. It happens sometimes from overtightening, and gets worse with time goes as you try to stop it by tightening a little more

So I ordered the bleeder valve. I unscrewed the "old" one and it looked identical to the new one. The cone at that end of the screw looked blemish free. Screwed the new one in and it still leaked.

So....I put a socket on it and gave it a good twist. Leaking stopped.

Maybe I got lucky.
