'08 head on a '06

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about putting an '08 head on my '06 crf450r instead of shimming the valves when its time.

I was just informed, that my '06 has a 40mm carb, and the '08 has a 41mm carb. What kind of difference would that make?

I believe that I have read that with the valving in the '08 head, you gain a little more on the bottom (enough to notice is questioned). My thinking is that using the '08 head with the '06 carb, will give you more on the bottom, and maybe take a little off of the top... If you were to use the bigger '08 carb, you'd lose a little from the bottom, and gain more on top...

Am I thinking right? Or do I need to stop thinking and get back to working on things I actually know something about?

Not that any of it really makes any difference, I'm slow enough to most likely not notice any change in any of it.

your thinking is correct. you are also correct in thinking that it will probably not make a big enough difference for you to notice.
