OEM Yamaha TMX Slides (Throttle Valve) Chrome lifting

Recommended Posts

I have a TMX 38 in my YZ 144. I replaced the Carb slide since the original the chrome bubbled and started lifting. Its a 5.75

Not even 10 hours into my totally fully rebuilt 144 motor and the brand new slide has a chrome bubble in it already!

I originally tried to get the slide re-chromed but they are die-cast with a copper coating. The die cast gets corroded by the acid bath they use to strip the old chrome.

Is there any aftermarket slides or the like out there?

Cheers

How bad is it? I think alot of us here with 125/144 have slides with flaking issues. I went to order one and saw the price and decided i can live with it. I guess it has to be pretty bad to have a noticeable effect.

Its not bad, Just he chrome is lifting after 8 hours since new, after paying $140 for a new slide you'd expect a little more longevity.

Someone needs to make some CNC billet slides. Haha
