Best XR 400 Air Filter Seal???????

Does anyone know of a xr 400 air filter that seals really good so sand doesn't get in? My Uni seems to be a pain. The EMGO filter looks interesting.

I have been using UNIs for years on XRs, I ride sand in FL and MI a lot, never had a problem with the filter sealing to the airbox. Are you using a good filter grease on the sealing edge?

I only used a small amount of grease to start but once I pulled the float to check the jets I seen some sand in the carb so now I put a ton of grease along the edge and a nice film of it in the boot going to the carb to catch any sand that may get through. I do understand that if you know what you are doing you can get a good seal with the uni, but I just cant seem to get that thing to seal good. I was just wondering if any other filter fits a little snugger and is easier to line up?

One thing I do with the UNI.....cut out the center connector strip, makes for a lot easier time fitting the filter and provides a better seal. BTW, grit in the float bowl comes either/or through the fuel supply or carb vents.
