Can I see some pics comparing 4.60 and 5.10 rear tires on the DR-Z400S?

Recommended Posts

No pix but keep in mind 4:60 and 5:10 sizes are an old (odd) way of designating low profile tires and the number does not accurately represent the width of the tire. A 4:60 is smaller than 4:50 and 5:10 is smaller than 5:00. A 4:60 on a DRZ is a bit small and a 5:10 should be close to the 120/90 X 18 that A DRZ400S came with.

Still like to see some pics as it seems like many I found on Google look too fat.

So the best replacement for these...

Trailwing Front - 80/100-21

Trailwing Rear - 120/90-18

Would be these?

Shinko 244 Front - 3.00/21

Shinko 244 Rear - 5.10/18

Now that is an SM with smaller wheels than my S right? Cause that does look fat and stubby to me.

Yes, 17s! I read that you wanted it on 18s after I posted! As a previous post stated, those are old world sizes. It is a 4.60 and 5.10 in 17inch though. Depending on you pavement to dirt ratio, I dont recommend wider tires on the front. It cause the front to "hunt" for traction in dirt and when you are on pavement it makes it harder to lean over and when it does it just kinda "flops" over on the side knobs. Its a very scary feeling until you get used to it but even after 2000 miles im still not super confident with them. Just my .02 cents.

There is no point in comparing tires for the SM 17" wheels and the S with 21" and 18" wheels.

a 3:00-21 front is comparable to a 80/100-21. It would not be reasonable or even possible to mount a 4:60 tire on the front of the S with a 21"wheel.

I really don't know how a 4:60-17 compares to the original size of the SM front tire. For sure the profile will be different (taller side wall).
