CRF 450 R, 2007 - bike viberates

Recommended Posts

Hello:

I have a crf450 r 2007 / this bike viberates when I hit the gas, making it unable to ride or race without hands going numb, this happened even after my mechanic put a new hotcam crank in the bike.

Events during the test ride after the crank replacement, transmission went into the motor oil filling up the motor oil and blowing the oil into the airbox, my mechanic repaired that problem. We went to Florida for the winter Pro Ams and my son (who has 11 years exp racing)had problems with his throttle hand going numb, thought it was due to past injury/surgery, saw his shoulder doctor, went to hand specialist and vein doctor nothing medically found. Went to ProAm's 2 laps he could not ride due to this hand numb. Found out it was viberation in the bike causing this issue with his hand. Our mechanic said the bike is old must have a crack in frame, purchased new frame, installed motor on new frame and bike still viberated, talked to other mechanic who said it was the crank, took back to my mech and told him to check the crank, he said the crank was twisted, I told him to put a new honda crank in the bike, took bike for test ride paid 800.00 for the new crank and labor, the bike still viberates, my mechanic telling me the bike is old and for that reason it is going to viberate. Everything is new: new crank, new head, rebuilt motor, new frame and still viberates, never viberated before this mechanic touched the bike and I feel it is another reason my mechanic is not aware of causing the viberation and looking to you to find the answer so I can get back to racing soon. Thanks everyone!!

Does anyone know what can cause my 07 crf450r to viberate besides the above items which we already repaired, and or replaced? Pls Advise

Sounds like the crank is out of balance.A buddy of mine did a burnout on his new fat boy and the thing started to vibrate really bad.It turns out he spun the balancer on the crank.

Take off the small round cover on the right side of the engine just above the oil check bolt hole. Shine a flashlight inside and slowly rotate the engine until the dots align. Do they align? If not the balancer is not timed with the crankshaft. Make sure the counterweight is in one piece.

I always thought the 4 strokes had less vibration than the 2 smokers. Are the bars rubber mounted to the triple clamps?

what rocksalt said.. they didn't line up the dots on the balancer. I had the same thing happen when my 04 was rebuilt one time.. vibrated like crazy. not a huge deal. Right side cover needs to come off to remove the balancer gear and line up the dots with the drive gear.
