TTR125R Forks

Recommended Posts

I'm asking if anybody can tell me when I'm setting the fork oil height, is it done with the fork completely compressed and with out the springs in?

I just did my RM forks which specified setting it with out the springs in.

The RM has inverted forks so they are quite different than the TTR's.

Thanks.

Fork compressed, springs OUT-

4.80 inches from the top 125 small wheel

5.12 125 large wheel

4.92 125 LWE

10 weight recommended. I use 15 and fill them a half inch fuller.

About 160 cc's will get you to the right level. After pouring the oil in, pump the forks in and out several times before measuring.

Ok...we did the TTR forks today. Comparing to the results after doing my RM's forks, it seem like the TTR's are still bouncy and have no compression or rebound dampening. The TTR's forks never seem to "stiffen up" once filled with oil and worked by hand. My RM's forks began to get progressively stiffer the more I worked them once refilling with oil. I let the TTR forks sit for 30 minutes then worked through the stroke some more with no improvement in their "feel".

Did we miss something?

Thanks

They are pretty flimsy forks. I preload the springs about 3/4 inch with a PVC spacer, and that helps a little.
