question on installing filter skins . . .

Recommended Posts

How do you install a filter skin without tearing a hole thru the center of them? I can't put the filter skin on after installing the filter because I can't reach underneath (not enough room in the air box) yet I can't put it in on before either because it will rip a hole where I screw in the wingnut. Any advice?

Also, is it normal for the filter skin to squeeze the the air filter down into an abnormal shape?

filter skins are a waste, and suck in my opinion. I could never keep them from rolling up the sides of the filters. GET HAIR NETS! can buy a box of 100 for like $6 ! They work great, just pull off and throw away from time to time. Extends the time between air filter changes many times over.. Don't worry if there is a hole in it, the piston sucks tons of air and it will pull it nice and tight on the filter no matter what after some riding.
