primary gear alignment?

Recommended Posts

rebuilding an 86 cr250,

just did the main bearings, and while putting it together noticed the primary gear only contacts half of the clucth/divern gear.

i took it apart so long ago i dont remember if it was like that.

its oem honda crank and bearings. nothing else was changed cept seals.

idler and kickstarter gears line up nice, only this?

Can you flip the gear over on the crank? When I did the crank in my YZ it was like that. So it may be just fine.

thanks for the reply,

no cant do that, if i did the primary would float and i would have air leaks, as it wouldnt contact the spacer or the outer washer.

but!, you got me thinking i wonder if i put the spacer in the wrong way? hmmm...?

guess ill check that.

cr@p, thats was it, the spacer was the wrong way, jeez.

i was so focused on making sure the gear as well as the washer was correct.

i slipped on the spacer last week after i finished the seals. obviously had a brain fart.

thanks for the slap up-side the head, lol.
