yz250f to wr250f type of gearing

Recommended Posts

Guys my first ride on my 03 yzf250....absolutely astounded with the performance around the forest and river bed trail.

A quick question, though, no doubt been asked before, can i get it down with a sprocket combo to give it longer legs, as i am probably going to be doing some farm type long trail rides, and as I found yesterday with the flat gravel roads, the bike was doing about 10000 rpm in fifth and only wanted to go faster...but was buzzing like the proverbial.

I have a 13 front and 49 rear, can I gain 1 or 2 in the front and loose a couple at the rear for more speed and less rpm?

Yes you can but you will loose some take off power. Just a rule of thumb that 1 in the front is equal to 3 or 4 opposite in the rear. For more top speed go up in the front or down in the rear.
