throttle cable xr 70...how do i get it out of the carb?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 xr70 all stock. I am needing to change the throttle cables on my 50 and 70....I figure they're pretty much the same..... I can't figure out how to get the cable out of the Carb on the 70 and I'm scared to screw something up without knowing. please any help is greatly appreciated..... I have got the carb pulled off and all I cant figure out, so far, is how to get the cable and spring out and then back in..if you can tell me what's going on with either cable on either bike I'm sure I can figure out the other....I'm just not seeing how to remove the cable from the Carb

Unscrew the cap off the carb and pull out the slide/spring/needle assembly. If you look at the bottom of the slide, you will see where the end of the cable hooks into a keyhole. Grasp the slide in one hand and the cable in the other. Compress the spring by pushing the slide towards the cable and unhook the cable end from the key way. The new cable comes with the screw cap attached. Hope that make sense.
