XR 250L Carb Rebuild Kit

Recommended Posts

Looking for a carb rebuild kit for my 1991 Honda XR 250L. Anyone know of any good kits. I know keyster makes the kit I am looking for but can not seem to find any one that sells the kit in the US. I found the kit on ebay but the seller is located in Canada and there is like a 15.50 shipping fee. Checked the local Honda shop and they said they would have to order the Honda gasket kit($30) and then piece everything else together. I am kind of suprised I am not able to easily find a aftermarket carb rebuild kit for this bike.

Does anyone know where to but Keyster products online?

If you get the Keyster KH-0831N kit the jetting will be up to XR250R spec with a #40 Pilot & a #125 Main

I went through a lot of trouble with my carb & researched & figured out this kit would work and it ups the jet sizes at the same time, Worked out great and my bike is now running sweet, The kit will go straight in and should take about 1/2 an hour to complete & be riding again

I used this kit for my 1993 XR250R that has an XR250L pumper carb, I am in Australia & I purchased the kit from here>

If the USA/AUS dollar was in your favour it would work out great ordering from here in OZ

Not sure where you could get this kit in the USA though?

The retail looks to be around $30 so im sure one of the thousands of motorbike shops over there near you guys should be able to sell you this kit for that price?

Google & lotsa phone calls might be the go

Thanks for the info. You didnt have to pull the carb? That pumper looks like a PITA to get to.

Pull the carb?, I take it you are asking is it hard to remove the carb, No it should only take about 5 mins, Remove fuel hose (make sure tap is off) Undo/remove cables at carby 10mm or 12mm spanner?, Undo clamps at front & rear of carb Phillips head, Pull the rear airfilter boot back out of the way with a lot of force without breaking/cracking it, Slide the carb out the left/tap side, It is a tight fit but it will go in & out with a bit of jiggling

It is much easier when you have done it a few times like I have but its not too hard to work out, The pumper carb is not really physically any bigger than the Keihin non pumper carb

Fitting the kit should only take a few minutes too, If the carb is dirty then cleaning it will take longer, Makes sure all the passages are clear and not blocked, The tiny hole where the air srew went in was fairly blocked on mine so I had to bore it out a little using a piece of wire

When you's are ready to fit the kit let me know and I will help out if you's need?

Have you been able to find a new diaphragm for the accelerator pump. This kit did not have one and mine still works, but it's 22 years old.

Yeah mine is surprisingly still working but it would be great to fit a new one anyway especially considering how old they are, The spring may be rather worn out too & it might work better with a new diaphragm fitted

Seems to be top secret classified information? I have tried searching many different online OEM parts suppliers in the XR250L different year models etc etc etc sections but cant find anything except NX CB XL etc pump diaphragms in google searches, Rather annoying

If we can atleast find out what length the XR250L pump rod is that may help>

Very similar

OH which one?????

Would be great if we can narrow it down & post an actual part/kit number

I knew something good would come from bringing this thread back up to the top (Well hopefully if we can find out a part number?)
