250 2-strokes allowed in Lites class in 2012???

Recommended Posts

I've been hearing rumors of an AMA rule change for 2012 that would again take the 250 2-strokes out of the lites class. Has anyone heard anything about it? I'm interested because we were planning on selling my son's crf250 and just racing with the CR250 we got last year. I don't want to end up with a bike we can't race!:busted:

AX Lites Pro: 14 & up 125cc 2-stroke or 250cc 4-stroke

SUPERCROSS LITES

E4.1 Engines

a. Engine Displacements:

0 – 125cc 2-stroke

0 – 250cc 4-stroke

b. Material and castings of the cylinders, cylinder heads and

crankcases must be the same as the originally approved

model. Material may be added or removed from these items.

I don't think AMA will ever allow the 250 2-stroke back in any AX/SX Pro Class.

I wish they would allow the 125 with a 155cc Limit, Over Bore & Stroking allowed.

Starting in 09 at the amateur level they allowed them in. In our local series 1st and 2nd place at the "B" level were taken by 2 strokes. I just didn't want to sell our crf250 then have the 2012 ama rule book come out and find out I have to go out and buy another bike!

Its a dumb rule, would allow for some exciting racing & keep costs down for those skimming by race to race, imo
