Wiseco Ring end gap?

Recommended Posts

Looking for a little insight as Im new to the four stroke world. I've got an 02 crf450 and in the middle of putting in a new Wiseco piston. Now Ive measured the top ring (compression ring?) and the ring end gap is at about .0010 Which seems right for a factory piston but wiseco states that about .0015 is the correct gap but that seems a little loose. For all of those that have run wisecos in their bikes, what is optimal? Im thinking something around .0012? Thanks.

i run them @ 11 thousandths per the "3 thousandths per inch of bore" rule.

Dont forget that the Wiseco piston has a diffent expansion rate than the O.E and therefor requires a diff ring gap. Run what the piston manufacture tells you to!
