ttr90 hard to start when its cold out?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2005 TTR90. It sat for 2 years. I got it running, cleaned the carb, filters, changed the oil. When it was warm out it would start right up. Now that it is colder it will still start but is very hard. Takes aboub 2-4 minutes of cranking(electric start), then it starts to spudder a bit then fires up But if I give it gas or touch the throttle when it is spuddering it wont start. I have to stay off the throttle when it starts to spudder, then once it starts I can gas it. It runs fine, plug looks good, ive tried with or without choke...any thoughts

You'll need to soak it. Aerosol carb sprays won't clean the dried fuel varnish. Yamaha makes an excellent carb dip that is made to remove the fuel varnish.
