Stock rear spring rates 250/400?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know the stock spring rates for both bikes? XR250R/XR400R?

I have a 95 250 and am getting a 96 400, wondering if the 400 will be stiffer. The 250 is a bit soft for me @ 225lbs.

Thanks!

400 is a 9.8 or 10kg rate. I've seen it listed both ways.

Thats not gonna give you the full story though. The 400 has a Showa shock and the 250 has a KYB so I'm not sure how well they will compare if you just look at spring rates.

@ 225, you might have to go 1 or 2 rates stiffer on the 400.

Your bike comes stock with a 9.3 shock spring according to the racetech calculator. It shows a 9.8, 10.3, and a 10.7 available for replacements, at 225 you would be in the 10.3 range or heavier.

I'm 220 and the 9.8 stock spring on my XR 400 suits me just fine, the front end is soft though
