CRF 250R Crank Replacement

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone knew if its possible to remove the crank with out splitting the case? I Just pulled off the head expecting to see a blown piston and/or cylinder but everything was good.... that meant Lower end. found brass shreds and confirmed the it was F'ed:banghead: Looks like i need a new Crank.

Any useful information would be great!

Thanks

Brass shavings mean fun times!!! You crank is definitly done for. The only way to get it out is to split the case. Even if there was a way to get it without splitting (which there isnt) i would still do it anyways because those brass shavings are going to be EVERYWHERE!!

I would make sure to pull everything apart and clean and use an air compressor to blast it. You will need to clean out all the oil passages on the case, case covers, as well as oil pump.

The rebuild is not to hard if you have some mechanical know how. I just did the rebuild on my 2005 CRF250 and only watched a youtube video to do so as well as bought a clymer manual.

Any help you need feel free to ask...

You can also reference my rebuild thread right here..
