Suzuki LTZ starting issue

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 LTZ 400, big bore kit, yfz450 carb.

It has been sitting in storage for a couple months without being started. Before it sat it ran PERFECT, NO ISSUES. I took it out of storage and it only started and ran for a few seconds on starter fluid. So i Drained the gas, cleaned the air filter, pulled the carb out and drained the gas and cleaned all the jets with carb cleaner (none of them even looked dirty or clogged but cleaned them anyways). Even now it will only run for a couple seconds with started fluid then dies!! :busted: ***???

Just had a issue just like this. Pull the plug and dump some clean oil down the hole like 1/4 cup or so, then cycle the motor a couple times, put the plug in and pul start it in like 3rd,4th gear. It sounds like it could be cylinder wash.

My plug is good, I pulled it out and started it with the plug wire on it to the frame.

It backfires like crazy when I start it with starter fluid. But with out it it will not even turn over just cranks n cranks

Just want to you clarify something, it starts with starter fluid BUT ONLY runs for like 3a seconds then dies or when it burns up all the starter fluid

fuel, air, spark = boom.

I know you said it ran great but with a hard starting 4 stroke I alway check the valves.
