What sprocket size for me?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I am currently running a Renthal Twin Ring Sprocket with 13/51T config. I really love the sprocket with the light aluminum inner and the tough steel outer, but the bike is geared way to low. I mostly ride on trails with wide open sections and some tight turns. When i am on the track i am looking for that low end pull but at the same time top end to clear the triples. I originally planned to go down to a 50T but read that alot of people go to 49T. I want top end but at the same time good low end. So 13/49T or 13/50T, what do y'all suggest?

You need to get a couple of more rear sprockets if that's what you want to get out of the bike. For arenacross, we ran a 52 on the rear. For outdoors, we never ran lower than a 51. Tried the 50t and it was a pig getting out of the corners and trying to clear out of the corner decent size jumps wasn't happening. For trails, the 50t might be fine. I personally think the 49 on an 06 is way to low. You would be able to hold gears a lot longer with the smaller sprockets. How ofter do you need to run 70mph through the trails to yeild gearing that low?
