road tyres for a dirt bike?

Recommended Posts

do u guys know if any tyre manufacturer make road tyres that will fit a typical dirtbike?

my sizes are

front = 80/100 - 21

rear = 110/90 - 19

butttt, the last tyre that was on the rear was 120/90 - 19 (dirt allways so far)

so can someone explain how that works? and y they r interchangable?

i need road tyres for this/these sizes. thanks.

What you need are "sportsman" tires.

Sportsman is supermoto with stock rim sizes (21/19 or 18).

I´ve heard good things about the Avon Roadrider AM26, Avon Distanzia, Avon Gripster, Bridgestone Trail Wing, Maxxis DTR-1.... These are available on the sizes you need.

Do your research on which ones are the best for your needs.

There are tons of tires you can use but the Maxxis DTR is no longer made. I have used Vee Rubber, Shinko's, Full Bore, and Kenda. They all make tires that are 90% street 10% dirt and work real well on my XR for street use.

I have 21/19 Bridgestone BT 45s on my DRZ-S. For the last 1000 miles or so they show very little wear. They have good grip on paved roads and provide almost as much grip/confidence on dirt roads as the stock trail wings.

I have heard that Avon Roadriders are superior and will try them when the 'stones are done.
