NorthCarolina Anyone interested in working on my DRZ-400s over the winter (Near Charlotte, NC) ?

Recommended Posts

Guys, I'm thinking of possibly getting the bike worked on and checked over the winter but I can't do any of that stuff.

Would anyone KNOWLEDGEABLE be interested in tearing it down partially to check things and make sure it's kosher? Carb, transmission, tighten stuff up and check lubrication, etc?

Naturally, I would pay ($) or trade for stuff or services. (Come to think of it, I have -extra- original parts that I got with the bike when I bought it.)

I'm in Marshville, close to Charlotte.

I had it sitting last winter without riding it and I couldn't get it started afterwards. Emptied the gas out of the carb but since then, it never seems to start as easily as it did when I bought it.

Just want to make sure things are up to snuff.

Thanks

George :busted:

Hey George havent seen you over on the DRZ forum in a while. Lots of guys there that live in NC that might help you out. I'd be happy to but Im over in Goldsboro. Try posting this over there. Might have better results. I plan on riding mine through the winter but here's what I would do.....

Add a fuel stabilizer and run the motor for 5 minutes or so. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb. Drain the carb. Put the bike on a stand with both wheels off the ground. Disconnect the battery from the bike and put on a battery tender inside if possible. Also store the bike in a dry environment if you can. Depending on your bikes mileage and age you might need to change coolant and brake fluid in the spring time.

If you cant find someone local to help you and you dont mind hauling the bike to Goldsboro send me a PM and Id be glad to give you a hand.

Hiya, yeah, it's been awhile. My carpal tunnel is killing me so I don't post as much.

I really don't want to mess with it myself for several reasons. First, I suck at UNDERSTANDING instructions and second, I'm afraid I'll mess something up. All this is simple for those who know it but not for me.

People always go, "but, it's easy...!" Nah, not for me.

I then respond with an example to try to explain how things work and I say, how many languages could you learn and they usually go "hell, I have a hard time with just ENglish" and I reply, well, I speak FOUR FLUENTLY!

Some things I'm just not good with and not COMFORTABLE messing with.

So, you said to post it over there, where do you mean?

I looked it up and you are a good distance away from me, too bad

I don't actually want to put it up over the winter, did that last year but then it was pretty cold and I couldn't find any clothes I liked (too fat). I've got some now so I plan to ride but I was hoping that maybe someone could take a week or so to work on it so I can ride it.

Plus I'd love to find someone to ride with. All riding I do is street riding because of that. I have a friend with a nice little trail but no one to ride with. It's in Marshville if someone's interested.

Thanks bro :)

George

I meant post it on the DRZ specific TT forum. Lots of guys from NC and maybe one close enough to help you out.

Ah yes. I always prefer doing that but so often I'm told it should be in a different forum.

I'll do that though, thanks
