is it worth buying for spare parts?

Alright lads? my local mx shop has a steel framed yz 125 and i have an alloy 1, it is the model before mine, it was left in for work and was not collected, somebody real smart welded the fly wheel onto the crank..... in the wrong place:bonk: so the motor is not worth going at. I can get the bike cheap. my question would I get many spare parts Clutch, wheels, rads, suspension? loads of it looks the same. should i buy it? cheers for any advice.

so you have an 05 and the bike is an 04?

Buy the parts ebay to fix it . Then you have 2 bikes

For parts, no. bad72ss's suggestion is good though. If you want two bikes.

Some little stuff like the foot pegs, handlebars, fenders, plastic, subframe, brakes, wheels, etc will swap over, but there are a lot of major differences in the 125 model between 2004 and 2005.

It's not worth it for a parts bike.

cheers, im in dublin, i would like another bike but a woods bike a 250 would be nice, my bike is a 06 the other bike is an 04 model but im not sure of the year, but just to confirm the wheels, brakes, plastics would fit? and what about the linkage, shock, clutch stuff like that?

It all depends on how much you can get it for and how many, if any of the parts you need right now.

Say you need wheels and brakes off the donor, and replacements are going to run you twice what you can get the parts bike for. Then I would pick it up.

But, if I didn't need any parts now, I probably wouldn't bother, unless the price was really, really cheap.

Storing a non-operational bike on the off chance that you may be able to scavenge a few parts off it down the road just isn't something that I would waste the shop space on.
