trouble fitting exc450 seat

Recommended Posts

hi

i was having serious trouble fitting my exc 450 2011 seat. (a ktm power parts lowered seat)

The nut holding on the back mudguard also acts as a locating dowel for the seat. it looked out of position, but with the nut removed, the hole on the seat matched the mudguard hole. Meaning it was aligned, just bloody hard to fit,

No amount of pushing or shoving could get the seat on, very frustrating.

so what to do.

i die ground a lead in on the seat boss and gave the seat a tap with a sledge hammer (the broad side of the hammer directly over the seat boss) and popped in and located. then the bolt was easy to fit.

i have since dicovered a decent punch on the seat also gets the seat on, this will be my trail technique.

hoping this helps somone with the same problem

I've had the same issue on my '10 530 EXC. I have to punch the back of the seat to get it to "seat" over that nut in the back. Also notice if the two seat tabs underneath are rubbing the rearmost edge of your gas tank. Mine rubbed over 1/8 deep into the tank. I had to file down the plastic on the seat some.
