Exhaust Leak?

Recommended Posts

I recently put on a ProCircuit head pipe. I installed a new exhaust gasket and everything seemed fine. I was getting my bike ready for Thanksgiving weekend yesterday and when I started it, I heard a faint "clicking" noise coming from the header. Everything appears to be tight. Could I possibly have an exhaust leak or could I just not be used to the new pipe yet. Thanks.

I'm with Krannie, a leak will not "click"

It should sound similar after you shut it off and its cooling down.

Easy enough to check for a leak. Hold a wet towel over the end of the mullfer, listen for the hissing of the leak.

Krannie most likely has it right. As tight fitting metal heats up, (just like an earthquake) there is expansion, pressures, some give (a creak or 'tink'). and it repeats.
