Where Have You Been Riding Lately? Post Most Current Ride Reports Here!!!

Recommended Posts

What's up guys! Hoping to start an ongoing thread where people can post their

ride reports here. It doesn't have to be huge, just a couple sentences about

their ride with a few pictures.

Part of the reason why I'm starting this is because I can't ride for about 2-4

months. I got in an accident at Carnegie and had to be hauled off in the

ambulance. Maybe I'll contribute to that ride report if you all are interested.

Let's see them!!!

? Nick ?

Holy crap! That's a lot of snow!

Hey infamy, I was suppose to race Wilseyville! Could you give us a ride report when you

get a chance?

Regarding my accident, it's a long story. I'll be happy to share my experience. Unfortunately,

I don't have time right now, but I promise to shortly. It's a good story (my tibia compounded

and the bone and was sticking out of my skin!!!).

In the meantime, I'm super interested in reading about other people's rides!

Don't torture yourself NorCal. Especially during prime riding season. Maybe ask everyone to post up pictures of naked ladies....or maybe a plate of food like they do on Facebook?

Wilseyville was awesome. Sorry, I don't have pictures. Best I could do would be a play-by-play story. Wish you could have been there bro.

That does not sound like a good story, but I guess that is a good attitude to have! I have had one of those, hopefully they were able to pin it for you so you can get on your feet soon. Good luck with your recovery!

I've been riding in my back yard out in wilton, but I've recently found a few tracks out in open fields im gonna hit up this week. I'll let you know how it goes.

p.s. If any of you are out here in wilton and you have a track in your back yard like all the ones I've seen on google earth, hit me up, maybe I can do some trade out service work for some ride time :-D

Thanks man. I've heard mixed reviews about Wilseyville. Some folks are saying

it was like "ice skating with tennis shoes," and others are saying it was epic.

lol. I'm not sure who to believe.

Trying to keep the attitude positive for sure! Sucks being laid up but should

be able to ditch the crutches in about 3-4 weeks!

Loving the snowmobile, I mean, dirt bike ride reports! Keep the torture coming!!!

Good news! Just do your range of motion stuff to keep your knee operating smoothly and you should be good to go:thumbsup:

I just got home from Foresthill with my boy. It was a slippery, snotty, snowy good time! Im suprised they still have it open for as wet as every thing was. What I did realize today was how fun a 2 stroke, my boys 02 YZ125, in the mud really is and I kick myself in the ass for selling my YZ250. Dont get me wrong I love my 06 YZ450 but the smoker was a blast.

So here's my latest ride report:

Never in my wildest dreams had I imagined something like this would ever

happen to me.

On Oct. 28 I was at Carnegie with my brother doing some hill climbing. We

were just across the creek bed near Skip’s (I think it’s called Devil’s Butt

crack, but not sure. You have to take a black diamond to get to it). The

climb we were doing had a hard right hand turn near the beginning. The turn

had a berm which you had to hit pretty hard to get momentum because

after it was hard-packed and steep.

My brother went first. I gave him about a 30 second head start, give or take

a few. I hit the climb in second gear then opened up the throttle wide open

to hit the turn. As I was taking the turn, within a split second, I saw a

gigantic BOULDER moving down the hill incredibly fast. Before I could react,

the boulder nailed me just below my kneecap and above my boot-line. It felt

like a sledgehammer hit me in the shin.

I jumped off my bike and tried to “walk it off.” I immediately saw my leg

move but my boot going nowhere and fell to the ground. I was screaming

and on the verge of puking and possibly passing out.

My brother came down five minutes later. We thought about trying to get me

down the hill. I was in agonizing pain, so he went to get the rangers.

The rangers and whole Tracy fire department came to my rescue. It was a

huge deal getting me off this steep hillclimb that involved strapping me to a

basket and attaching a rope to it. These rescuers are top notch. I even got

morphine on the way down, which didn't seem to help much.

As soon as I made it to the ambulance, they had to pull my boot off to

check for circulation before they actually loaded me up. This was horrible

because my leg and foot were already swollen, and my Gaerne SG10s didn't

want to come off without a fight. Holy crap, I had two paramedics holding

me down and I was biting my jersey. Once they got my boot off, they cut

my blood soaked pants and sock off. And there you have it, my tibia was

sticking out of my skin! Sweet!

To make a long story and little less long, my tibia was shattered up top, and

fractured in several places cleanly through towards the bottom. The orthopetic

surgeon said it was the worst break he'd seen in a while. The Doc ordered

emergency surgery. He said there was a 50% chance the job was too much for

him to handle. In that case, he would sew me up and send me off to another doc.

The surgery was 3.5 hours. He was successful, thankfully, in putting a 1/2" rod down

my tibia and anchoring it just above my ankle. I spent the next 4 days in the

hospital in horrible pain.

Now I'm finally feeling alright. My knee and ankle are swollen and lost a lot of

movement since the accident but I've started physical therapy which has

helped immensely. I should be walking on it in several weeks. Hopefully riding

in a few months, but we'll see.

Here are some pics:

I'm really not sure how I smiled for this picture.

These two pics were taken several days after surgery.

Finally home!

Followup visit 1.5 weeks after surgery

So I have hair feet and I always get teased for them. This is my foot 2 weeks after surgery. I guess gravity is the reason why my foot got so swollen. It literally felt like it was going to explode.

I'm counting down they days until I can ride and race again.

Thanks for reading my ride report.

Keep em' comin'!!!?

wow, what a freak accident. that sucks, hope you have a speedy recovery. so was this boulder rolling or airborne?

Thanks man.

It was rolling fast, had a lot of momentum, and was like catching air down the

hill. lol. Not sure how to describe it but I guess it jumped about 2 feet in the air

to nail me perfectly square in the shin.

Good times.?

I should say, despite everything that happened, I'm lucky it broke my leg and

didn't take out my foot, ankle, knee, chest, neck or head. That could have been

a lot worse!!!

OUCH!

Damn bro, that thing got you bad! Heal up quick...(but take therapy slowly? )

Did your brother dislodge the boulder? If not, did he see it falling? How big was this thing?

I like how you are smiling in all the pics. haha. Good attitude and I have to +1 that it didn't get you in the chest or head.
