Cutting Bars down

Recommended Posts

29" - 29.5" is a pretty good place to start. Anything shorter and mounting controls starts to become an issue. I have mine cut to 28", and while I like the width, lining up the brake/clutch levers is kind of a pain.

Run mini bars and you can get away with a lot more. I am at 28" on one of my bikes and really like it for singletrack.

Measure your wingspan with arms bent at 90 degrees and don't go narrower than that. That's about as wide as you are going to be going thru any tight area anyways.

1/2" off each side for me is good for Enduros, GNCC's are all bulldozer wide most of the time and wider bars work better in the really highspeed stuff.

I've hit 66 mph (GPS) in a GNCC, scary stuff on short bars.

you can aways cut off more but can't put it back on

I have run 29" mini bars and they killed my arms....
