Swapping tires

Recommended Posts

Currently have 90/90-21 up front and 120/80-18 in the back on my DRZ. I was planning it switch out to Pirelli MT43 but their sizes are 2.75-21 front and 4.0-18 rear. Can I swap these tires out so I wouldn't have to buy new rims?

Also considering Pirelli XCMH and they come in 110/100M-18, 120/100M-18, and 140/80M-18. Which tire would work with my rear rim?

Well, this might not be very helpful, but I installed a Kenda 760...size 110/100/18 earlier this year and it is just fine, lots of clearance and it seems to stick quite well.

benjamin - Sure no problem. a 2.75-21 is a good fit on a 1.60 X 21 rim. In fact a better fit than the 90/90-21 commonly fitted to the 1.60 width front rim. The 90/90 is technically too wide for the rim but works fine. The 2.75-21 is perfect for the rim width.

The 4.00-18 rear tire is a good fit for the 2.15 X 18 rear rim. No problem. The 4.00-18 tire is a bit taller than the 120/80 you have on there now but no choice if you want the run the MT43.
