BSR 36 Needle Valve O-Ring

Recommended Posts

Recently my '06 S started leaking fuel out of the air box. I had previously replaced the vacuum petcock with the Yamaha ON-OFF-RES on to get it to start easier., but happened to leave it in the ON position/

The o-ring on the needle valve was flattened, cracked and brittle. The o-ring is not a service part so I had to buy the assembly for $53. It came in yesterday so I pulled it off and measured the new on with my calipers. It measures: I.D.=0.297 in. and has a cross section (C.S,) of 0.058 in. This corresponds to a metric I.D.=7.5 mm and C.S.=1.5mm. It is thicker than a standard metric o-ring of I.D. =7.5mm ,C.S. = 1 mm. It would be great to find a source.

Check the oil for gas contamination, that is common when gas flows out the air box.

Search on line for metric "O" rings. May sources. Air-oil.com has 1.5 X 7.5. They have min order but you get a lot of "O" rings for the min.

My local hardware store is pretty good for metric "O" rings too.
